Frequently asked questions

What is AvtoCost and how does it work?

AvtoCost is an AI-powered online service that analyzes vehicle photos and provides a preliminary repair estimate. Upload photos and the system identifies make and model, detects visible damage areas, and calculates three scenarios: minimum, realistic, and maximum. The full process takes up to 30 seconds and does not require registration.

Who needs online car damage estimation?

The service is useful whenever you need to quickly understand repair scope and budget:

  • Used car buyers: upload listing photos before making a deal and estimate likely repair costs before negotiation.
  • Car sellers: estimate damage in advance to set a fair price and reduce buyer objections.
  • Dealers and traders: quickly evaluate lots for trade-in or bulk procurement without calling an expert for each car.
  • After accidents: get an independent preliminary estimate before visiting a workshop or speaking with insurers.
  • Insurance planning: understand your expected compensation range before signing documents.
  • Cross-border logistics: estimate transport-related damage before customs and final acceptance.
  • General condition checks: understand whether a repair is financially reasonable before committing.
How accurate is the AI estimate?

The AI provides a preliminary estimate based on visible photo damage and current repair pricing for Ukraine and Europe. Accuracy depends on photo quality: the clearer and more detailed the images, the better the estimate. The service returns minimum, realistic, and maximum scenarios so you can see a reasonable cost range. For official insurance documents or legal cases, a certified inspection is required.

What types of damage can AI detect?

The system analyzes scratches, scuffs, dents, panel deformations, front and rear bumper damage, headlight and taillight damage, wheel arch damage, and visible damage to glass and mirrors. For best results, upload separate photos of each damaged area, not only wide shots.

What photo quality is required for accurate estimation?

Photo quality directly affects estimate accuracy. Follow these rules:

  • Shoot in soft daylight. Harsh sun or artificial light can create glare that may be interpreted as scratches.
  • Keep the vehicle clean. Dirt, dust, and water drops can mask real damage or create false positives.
  • Take photos from 0.5 to 1.5 meters from the damage area. Distant shots lose important detail.
  • Avoid blurry or dark images.
  • Upload several angles of the same damaged area to improve reliability.
What if photos have glare or uneven lighting?

Glare is a common source of AI estimation error. Bright reflections may be interpreted as scratches, while real scratches inside glare zones may be missed. If you notice strong glare, take an extra shot of the same area in shade or under cloudy sky and upload both images.

Can I estimate damage using only one photo?

Technically yes, but accuracy will be lower. One photo usually captures only part of the vehicle and not the full depth or scale of damage. We recommend uploading at least 3 to 5 photos: overall views plus close-ups of each damaged area.

How much does an estimate cost?

A single analysis costs $1.2. The monthly package with up to 130 analyses costs $120/month. Full tariff details are available on the Pricing page.

How long are my photos stored?

All uploaded photos are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Personal information is not sold to third parties. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Which markets are used for pricing calculations?

AvtoCost calculates repair costs for Ukraine and Europe. Results are shown in USD and UAH using the latest available NBU exchange rate.

Can I use the service for imported cars?

Yes. You can upload photos of any vehicle regardless of registration country. This is especially useful for cars imported from the USA, Europe, or the UAE to estimate damage before customs clearance and make more informed purchase decisions.
